The idea of finding your Edge in life has its origins in Yoga. The Sanskrit meaning for Yoga is ‘union,’ reaching beyond limits to discover what is possible. It is the balance of Yin and Yang.
Finding your Edge requires that you question your limits and grow. You find ease and balance by challenging yourself mentally and physically.
Without this exploration, both within and without, you will always wonder how far you could have gone, question how high could you reach.
For example, in the physical body, Kripalu Yoga defines it this way: “The Edge is that precise place in a posture where the body finds its optimal stretch and the mind is fully present.”
Strain and tension can result from stretching the body too far or pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone. In a similar way, If you give up too soon and turn back from a goal, you will “breed physical dullness and mental boredom,” just as in a yoga posture.
