Florence Scoville Shinn, in her 1920’s book still in demand today, The Game of Life and How To Play It, said: “The most difficult thing in life to learn is that life was meant to be simple.”

As the saying goes, the way you do anything is the way you do everything, and if you’re anything like me, you might make things harder than they need to be.

It is our daily small habits that shape our larger vision. We create our future by stringing together the small things in our lives.

Somehow, I began to feel rushed along the way. It became a habit, which led to cramming in swift, hard workouts at the gym, which led to physical therapy visits, which led to mindfulness and the need to slow way down, pause, even stop. That was just one example of how my day was lived fast and furiously.

Despite my strict but loving German mother’s strong work ethic, I have since learned to appreciate how my body and mind can react to stress in subtle ways.
