The Magical Moment of Intention

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that things are difficult. Seneca

I opened my laptop and brought up a blank page. I placed my fingers on the keys.

Just that infinitesimal action is all that is needed. We learned in school that atoms are so small it’s hard to imagine that all matter, including ourselves, come from atoms, yet we do.

James Clear, in his bestseller, Atomic Habits calls this a systems approach: Instead of focusing on goals (or the end results), he says to form habits first.

I thought the act of opening my laptop and touching the keys was the beginning, the first step. But there is something else that occurs even before this action. I had formed the habit of writing daily. I had formed a system that makes a habit.

Apparently the ideas come when my muse feels welcome.

I don’t always write in great volumes, certainly not. Wish I did. But once I’m in position, my ‘tool’ connects with the part of my brain that has ideas. Or maybe it’s wherever my muse is hovering, waiting for me to be dutifully mindful and focused.
