Opportunities Are Waiting For You

We often blame lack of opportunity on age. We might even unconsciously use age as an excuse. Yet, nothing is ever easy when we’re reaching for something we greatly desire. It is all about forging a new path, graduating up through the stages of personal growth.

When I decided to take an acting class at first I was intimidated. This was just my insecurities trying to make me believe I wasn’t good enough. It wasn’t my first acting class, I had taken several over a couple of decades. But this was different. I felt like I had been dabbling in the past. There might have been a level of safety in treating it lightly. This time, I was lifting myself to a new level. My acting teacher, the network of other students, and the iconic theater I was a part of was my way of telling myself: “You are committed to this craft.”

Something inside me wanted to answer back and say I didn’t belong.

I understood it was just old patterns, brain constructs, or self-sabotaging behavior that was coming up for me. It took signing up for the class, paying the fee, committing to the two-year training where I began to realize that I was worth the effort of getting to know myself better.
