First sip of the day determines the day. It’s my way to practice the stoic wisdom of ritual, routine and discipline.

It is life altering for me. It has given me greater focus, balance, good habits, practice and training, and perseverance. And it greatly increases my energy, vitality and enthusiasm.

Best of all it is the true meaning of freedom. It is inner freedom that comes from knowing yourself.

I like simplicity. It has become a learned skill, and is one of the benefits of living on a sailboat, as life is freed up to greet new ways of doing things.

It scooped me out of old comfort zones and made life brand new again.

I am new, and even different now. The shopping distraction has slowed way down, and my creativity has risen way up.

Especially my thoughts have taken an expanded turn in a new direction as I think less, from trusting more.

There is dignity in daily self-discipline. I have found having a plan before I get up that contributes my time, experience and interests to help others far more satisfying than all the former thoughts that…
